Living Intentionally
Posted by: | Comments
Live intentionally… by your sacred design…and experience what happens. These words on my friend’s blog* stopped me.
What does it mean for us to live intentionally?
How much of your 2010 was intentional?
When I reflect upon 2010, I recall some very intentional significant moments. I also realize that there were moments, hours, days, and maybe even weeks that just happened. And such is the nature of our lives too often.
Yesterday, I did something intentional. I took a step to reconnect in an authentic way with someone I love. It was something I had thought about doing many times, yet I had just not done it. There were several really good reasons. It involved risk. Vulnerability. Intimacy (not just for marriages… “In-to-me-see”).

Christmas Eve Gift
Posted by: | Comments
(This is my blog post from Christmas Eve, 2010.)
When I was a little girl, I believed in Santa. I was the last of my classmates to find out that Santa was really my mom and dad. I can still feel how defensive I became when my friends told me that there was no Santa. After all, I had been to Santa’s Village and actually seen the reindeer in Hope Valley, California!

Don’t Touch My Biscuit!
Posted by: | Comments‘Rrrrr! My Yorkie, Gabriel, growled at me as he cut his eyes upward towards me, and I should say that the site of a seven pound dog acting as if he is the boss is quite humorous. In his mouth he held his treasure, a leftover canned biscuit, and he warned me to stay away. Gabby’s regimen of guarding this “treasure” been a long standing point of amusement in our household.
It began several years ago when one of us gave him a canned biscuit which was left over from breakfast. For reasons unexplainable, my oldest son, Andrew, actually likes those really cheap canned biscuits. Their flavor can best be described as something akin to cardboard, yet apparently when they are filled with bacon or deer tenderloin, they are the bomb to my three boys. And one day, someone pitched a leftover biscuit to Gabby and the saga began.

The Gift of This Day
Posted by: | Comments
I awakened at 4 a.m. this morning to the sounds of the wind whipping. It’s a bitterly cold 17 degrees with a wind chill of 2 degrees here in Northwest Alabama where dusts of snow lie on the ground from yesterday. It is my birthday.
Alone with my thoughts which refused to return to dreamland, I slipped out of bed. My coffee awaited me thanks to the wonder of a coffee maker with a timer, one of God’s really good gifts. For a few moments, I purposefully took some deep breaths and thanked God for breath, for life, always painfully aware on my birthday that my twin, Mike, is not here to celebrate with me.

The Crucible of Deep Disappointment
Posted by: | Comments
On December 4, 2010, my husband and I watched Auburn play South Carolina in the college football SEC championship game. Since I am a huge University of Alabama fan, just watching the game was a reminder of my deep disappointment that Bama was not playing instead of Auburn. However, after touching base with my personal counselor and getting some therapy, I was able to work through my feelings and watch the game anyway (just kidding!). Enjoy this post?
