Do you find yourself in certain chapters of the Bible, reading them over and over, drawn to them as a moth to light on a dark night? Have you experienced particular Bible passages as manna for your soul? When you need comfort, help, direction, where do you turn to in the Word? I am listing 5 of my favorite Bible passages. What are yours? Take time to list at least one of your favorite chapters/passages in the comment section below.

Here is my list of 5:

The 5 Series: My 5 Favorite Scriptures

Posted by: | Comments (0)

How beautiful are God’s words! I thought I’d share my 5 favorite scriptures and found this to be quite challenging. I have different favorites on different days and in varying seasons of life, and there are so many powerful scriptures. So perhaps these are not my “5 favorite” but certainly 5 that I love.

Tomorrow I am going to list my 5 favorite chapters of the Bible.

1. Proverbs 4:23 Above all, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

2. Romans 8:28 For we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

3. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

1. On a mission trip to Trinidad in April 2012, a young Trini woman asked me to pray for her hearing. I had difficulty understanding her because of her accent and because of the loud music playing in the background. However, I did understand that she had a problem with her hearing. I felt impressed to pray for God to do a creative miracle in her hearing and make it just as it was when He created her. Immediately she began to cry and rejoice and tell me that she could hear. It was a stunning moment, both for her and for me. Later this young woman reported that she had lost her hearing in one ear early in life due to repeated ear infections and that the apparatus in her ear for hearing had actually degenerated. Doctors had told her that her that she’d never hear again in that ear. God totally restored her hearing in less than a minute! Wow!

1.     1.   Said “Nana” for the first time.

2.      2.  Ran to me with her arms stretched wide open for me.

3.      3.  Kissed me.

4.      4. Squealed with delight because she was going to stay all night with me.

5.      5. Slept on my shoulder as I sang to her and rocked her in my arms.

Today as we celebrate the birth of our Christ, my desire is to focus on Him, His goodness, and His glory. Because God came as a human, dwelt in a fleshly body, lived a perfectly sinless life, gave Himself to pay for my sins and your sins and the sins of the whole world, and offers us redemption, I will celebrate His birth today in several ways. My family and I will read the story of Jesus’ birth. We will celebrate communion together, and we’ll enjoy the treasures of family. We’ll live life fully today because Jesus came. Here are my 5 best things about knowing God ( x 2 …  I just couldn’t stop at 5 so I figured I could say 5 x 2).
