I was only three feet inside the door of the grocery store when it happened. “Want to try our Key Lime Pie?” the woman asked. And there it was. Those little plastic cups with samples. Bait, really.  And the psychology is fabulous. If you can only get the consumer to taste the product, if it’s good enough it will sell itself.

And so it did.

The absurd thing is that I don’t really even like Key Lime Pie.

I almost declined the offer, but I was ravished. The day had been busy. I’d just never gotten around to eating much and now here I was, in the grocery store, starving.

To Own a Dragon

Posted by: | Comments (1)

I’m reading a book called “To Own a Dragon: Reflections on Growing up Without a Father” by Donald Miller and John MacMurray. The book is actually written for men so Donald gives a disclaimer at the beginning for any women who would read it! A friend of mine loved the book so much she asked me to read it.  I want to share a couple of excerpts from chapter five where Donald addresses the idea of God fathering us.

What I am getting at is the concept of a father may have been soiled for you and me, but it was important for me to realize who did the soiling.  To be fair, it wasn’t God…”
