Are You Considering Your Destiny?

Posted by: | Comments (2)

Who are you? What is your purpose in life? People everywhere struggle to answer these questions.  Yet deep within every human heart there is a call to live with purpose, to live knowing you are doing what you were created to do.

Studies say that near the end of life, only 20% of people feel that they had accomplished what they were created to do. This is tragic on so many levels.

Life is meant to be lived fully, fully connected to God and His plans and purposes. Anything else is a lesser life and I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to settle for less. I want more. I want it all. All God has for me.

dreams really do come trueDreams, desires, and hope inspire us, move us forward, and ignite our hearts and souls with purpose and passion. Sometimes the fire inside us burns like a well-stoked fire providing slow steady warmth. At other times, these dreams and desires erupt as if a match had been thrown onto the driest of fields. And then there are the times when we find the embers of hope in our souls to be barely burning. We become dry, empty; the fire of our hearts smothered out by discouragement and the loss of hope. The “When, God, when?” times. The times Proverbs describes as hope deferred resulting in heartsickness.

What’s Stirring Inside You?

Posted by: | Comments (0)

ambivalent lookHer eyes were full of ambivalence as tears gave voice to both anguish and hunger.   “You’ve done it again, you know. You’ve stirred things up inside me,” were the words she did say and the look on her face indicated that she didn’t know whether to thank me or to hate me. And I got it because I’d been there before. I understood as I watched her struggle with whether or not to step into this stirring inside.

Divine Surprises

Posted by: | Comments (1)

It’s a most amazing thing to unexpectedly end up in a place and then discover that it was all part of a divine plan of redemption. A set up. An orchestration of God’s making.

When I left work today, I was just so full of wonder at God’s handiwork in my life.

At one time, my pain seemed so overwhelming that I couldn’t see the possibility of redemption or restoration. And now here I am. Satisfied. Content. Fulfilled.

During a time of great loss, I chose to pursue a new career. Really, a new ministry.

Counseling had so significantly changed my life that I found myself desiring to be involved in that process with others. So I signed up, completed the 60 semester hours and an internship, and began a new business.

Are You Sick and Tired of Waiting?

Posted by: | Comments (2)

pregnant-belly2“If one more person looks at me and says, ‘Have you not had that baby yet?’, I am going to scream!  I mean, does it look like I’ve had this baby yet?” My well-meaning church family didn’t know that I was, well, umm, emotionally and physically depleted.  In the South we might call that being “As ill as a hornet.”

Not one of my better moments, for sure, but nonetheless, I had had it! Forty-two weeks pregnant by all accounts, I had begged my doctor to let me deliver naturally and not be induced. I was down to the wire in all regards. My doctor had said, “I can only let you wait another day or two.”  My family was certainly ready for me to deliver, if you know what I mean. And I myself was sick and tired of being pregnant.
