Simple Lessons from The Lord’s Prayer

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Prayer can feel like a 1,000 piece puzzle sometimes. Religious systems, spiritual leaders, the enemy of our souls, and even our own prideful ways of thinking whisper in our ears that God must certainly require prayer to be difficult. Could we really pray well in less than 75 words?

Do you find yourself in certain chapters of the Bible, reading them over and over, drawn to them as a moth to light on a dark night? Have you experienced particular Bible passages as manna for your soul? When you need comfort, help, direction, where do you turn to in the Word? I am listing 5 of my favorite Bible passages. What are yours? Take time to list at least one of your favorite chapters/passages in the comment section below.

The 5 Series: My 5 Favorite Scriptures

Posted by: | Comments (0)

How beautiful are God’s words! I thought I’d share my 5 favorite scriptures and found this to be quite challenging. I have different favorites on different days and in varying seasons of life, and there are so many powerful scriptures. So perhaps these are not my “5 favorite” but certainly 5 that I love.

Tomorrow I am going to list my 5 favorite chapters of the Bible.

1. Proverbs 4:23 Above all, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

2. Romans 8:28 For we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

3. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

It’s All in How You Use It

Posted by: | Comments (3)

1sadboyHave you ever “used” the Word of God for your own selfish purposes? Ever used it to prove your point, not caring whether or not you hurt someone else as long as you were proven right?

Although I am normally a very “nice” person, yesterday I almost crossed out of my good little boundary box to tell off a woman in the orthodontist’s office.

She was sitting just across from me with her son, who appeared to be about 14. I noticed she had a Gideon Bible in her hands. Then I heard her say, “That’s not right!” as she scanned a text using her finger to guide her reading. She was obviously in the first couple of chapters of Genesis. Her son looked at her incredulously and said, “In the Bible? You’re saying something in THE BIBLE is not right???”
