My God
Is strong, unwavering, steady,
Not found off-guard by the rhythms of my heart
Knowing they will lead me to Him
Even if they don’t seem to
My God
Is faithful, committed, stable,
Not afraid of my journey
For He has already been in my future
Even though I can’t see it
My God
Is courageous, unmovable, steadfast,
Not one to run from me
For He knows my heart
Even when it seems dark
My God
Is truth, uncompromised, existing
Not defined by my humanness
For His very being created me
Unafraid to be identified as mine
My God
Always here, present, quietly
Refusing to be offended
For he understands my process
Will lead me to His feet
My God
Comfortable with redemption
Wearing it with his own skin
Longs for me to wear it as
My everyday clothing
My God
Never forgetting His own pain
That frees me from mine
Acquainted with grief and full of sorrows
A seeming contradiction
Of abundant life
My God
Mysterious, beyond understanding,
And yet I taste, and see, and feel, and hear, and touch
Him
As I touch others
And He touches me
Because He longs to cleanse me
And heal me
And cover me
And love me
My God
